Sarah Zheng posted top-10 finishes as the No. 16-ranked Carleton College women's golf team tied for second pace at the 11-team St. Kate's Fall Invite.
Tournament host and No. 9-ranked St. Catherine set a program record with a 36-hole score of 578 (294-284). Carleton (305-304=609) and the Wildcats "B" Team (306-303=609) ended up deadlocked for the runner-up spot. Macalester College and Bethel University rounded out the top-5 as they tied for fourth place at 626.
Zhai was tied for 15th after an opening-round 78 at Braemar Golf Course in Edina, Minn. She followed that up with a 73 (+1) during Sunday's play at Eagle Valley Golf Club in Woodbury and concluded the tournament in eighth place after climbing seven spots on the leaderboard. She had a team-high three birdies in the final round.
Tatar and Zheng tied for ninth in the 59-player field. Tatar carded 76's on both days, while Zheng registered a 75 (+3) on Saturday and a 77 (+5) on Sunday to finish at 152 (+8). Zheng had two more birdies during the final round, giving her a team-best six for the tournament.
Cynthia Lu tied for 12th overall at 155 (+11, 76-79).
Olivia Siebert —playing as an individual entrant — birdied the final hole to finish in a tie with teammate
Anna Lee for 17th place at 158 (+14) for the 36-hole event.
