ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team is fourth out of 12 teams after the first full day of competition at the 2024 MIAC Outdoor Championships. The Knights earned a trio of All-MIAC awards (top three in each event) and added three more performances worthy of All-MIAC Honorable Mention (fourth-through-sixth place).
The day began with a quartet of Knights scoring points in the 1500-meter run.
Helen Cross took third at 4:36.46 and earned All-MIAC status.
Mary Blanchard (fourth at 4:41.94) and
Sophie McManus (sixth at 4:48.24) received all-conference honorable mention.
Aliya Larsen contributed to the team's point total after placing eighth with a personal best of 4:49.72.
Carleton took second place in the 4x800-meter relay.
Nora Daley,
Libby Rowland,
Alice Cutter, and
Lara Erickson combined on a time of 9:39.68.
Phoebe Ward earned All-MIAC status after placing third in the 10,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 35:54.26.
Hannah Preisser took home All-MIAC honorable mention thanks to her sixth-place showing after crossing the line at 37:08.66.
Katie Hirsche added to Carleton's point total by finishing seventh at 37:46.57.
Emma Trojan clocked a time of 17.84 during the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles.
Riley Roberts qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash by posting a time of 12.73.
Hadley Twichell was 0.01 second out of qualifying position, placing 10th overall.
Bianca Lott clocked in at a personal-best 13.10 to earn 15th place, and
Michelle Musa finished in 13.54.
Erickson (2:18.67), Blanchard (2:19.33), and Cutter (2:20.24) each qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run. They placed fourth, fifth, and eighth, respectively during the prelims.
Roberts finished 11th in the prelims for the 200-meter dash, crossing the line at 26.10.
Neenah Bosman place 11th in the hammer throw, measuring 42.93 meters on her initial attempt.
The MIAC Outdoor Championships wrap up on Saturday. Field events start at 12:00 p.m. with racing on the track resuming at 1:30 p.m.
