ST. PAUL, Minn. --
Indy Lyness won the 1500-meter run at the Joe Sweeney Invitational hosted by the University of St. Thomas. The Carleton College men's track & field team sent a small contingent to the 15-team meet and came home with a half-dozen top-12 results.

Lyness was seeded eighth in the 1500 but held off a trio of St. Olaf runners to win the 42-runner event with a time of 3:51.90, which bettered his previous personal best by more than 7.0 seconds.

Asher Nathan and
Liam Kennedy each recorded personal-best time in the 400-meter dash. They finished in 50.22 (fifth place), 51.26 (10th), and 51.42 (11th), respectively. Kennedy dropped time for fourth consecutive race.

Josh Meier took ninth in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 1:55.06.
Tim Adams had the top top-12 placement, taking 11th in the pole vault after clearing an outdoor PR of 3.83 meters.

Ian Mortensen and
Soren Kaster will compete in the MIAC Decathlon to be held at Carleton on May 2-3. Thursday's events include the 100-meter dash, the long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400-meter dash. Friday's action entails the 110-meter hurdles, the discus, the pole vault, the javelin throw, and the 1500-meter run.
