ST. PAUL, Minn. --
Indy Lyness' victory in the 400-meter dash highlighted seven top-10 results for the Carleton College men's track & field team at the 12-team Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational hosted by Macalester College.

Lyness, who specializes in the 1500-meter distance, competed in his first collegiate 400-meter race and came away with the victory after completing his lap around the track at Macalester Stadium in 50.85. Two other Knights added top-10 results in the event:
Liam Kennedy placed sixth at 51.69, while
Ian Scott finished ninth at 52.63. Kennedy was racing his third 400-meter race in seven days and dropped time with each race.

Asher Nathan won his heat and clocked a personal-best time of 22.96 while finishing fifth in the 200-meter dash.

Decathlete
Ian Mortensen took eighth in the shot put with a heave of 11.98 meters. He also took ninth in the discus, measuring a personal-best 36.02 meters.

Carleton's entry in the 4x400-meter relay–comprised of Scott,
Sam Reiter, Nathan, and Kennedy–finished fourth at 3:28.08.

Up Next for the Knights
Carleton expects to take a small contingent to the Joe Sweeney Invitational at University of St. Thomas on Wed., May 1. Mortensen and
Soren Kaster are then slated to compete at the MIAC Decathlon on May 2-3.
