MINNEAPOLIS – Junior
Gabe Nichols broke the Carleton College men's track & field record for the 1500-meter run while racing at the Gary Wilson Invitational, a meet hosted by the University of Minnesota (NCAA Division I).
Nichols placed fifth out of 49 entrants in the event, finishing behind three NCAA Division I racers as well as a runner from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the No. 1 ranked team in NCAA Division III. Nichols crossed the line at 3:48.51, the top time in the MIAC this season and fast enough to break the previous Carleton standard of 3:48.82 set by Donson Cook-Gallardo in 2017.
Indy Lyness raced to a fifth-place result in the 800-meter run, covering the distance in a personal-best 1:54.55
Josh Meier was ninth at a season-best 1:55.15, only 0.01 ahead of
Ethan Ash, who took 10th place.
Alistair Pattison also competed, placed 14th with a new PR of 1:55.91.
That quartet also Carleton's entry in the 4x400-meter relay that clocked a season-best time of 3:20.35, good for sixth place.
Roy Llewellen registered a new personal best as he took 14:35.81 to complete the 5000-meter run, finishing 13th overall.
Soren Kaster placed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 55.31.
Liam Kennedy turned in a season-best time of 51.99 while taking part in the 400-meter dash.

Carleton will send a small handful of runners to race the 5000-meter run on Thursday, April 25 at the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational hosted by Macalester College. Saturday, April 27 will see
Ian Mortensen compete in the javelin at the Drake Relays in Iowa while the rest of the squad takes part in the final day of the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational.
