ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team opened the Bethel Invitational with a victory by Sophie McManus in the 3000-meter steeplechase. That was the first of seven top-10 results for the Knights at the unscored 16-school co-ed meet.
 
McManus navigated the barriers and the water pit for a new personal-best time of 11:00.09. Teammate Libby Rowland was next to finish, establishing a PR time of 11:26.91
 
Helen Cross was second in the 1500-meter run with personal-best time of 4:34.19. The next 11 finishers in the 55-runner field for the event were from either the University of Minnesota (a NCAA Division I) or Minnesota-Duluth (NCAA D-II).
 
Mary Blanchard turned in a season-best time of 2:14.73 as she was the runner up in the 800-meter run. Lara Erickson finished sixth at 2:18.22.
 
Hadley Twichell clocked a time of 1:00.67 in the 400-meter dash, which placed her sixth out of 26 runners.
 
Carleton's top showing in the field events came from Neenah Bosman, who measured a season-best 41.53 meters on her second attempt in the hammer throw.
 
The Knights closed the day with a third-place showing in the 4x400-meter relay. Alice Cutter, Erickson, Twichell, and Riley Roberts combined on a time of 4:06.03.
