NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's track & field team is in third place after the second day of the MIAC Indoor Championships. The Knights turned in six all-conference performances on Friday and four more worthy of all-conference honorable mention.
Only 10 points separate second from fifth place as Saint Benedict (64 points), Carleton (58), Gustavus Adolphus (57.5), and St. Olaf (54) trail overall leader Bethel (77).
Carleton got off to a great start with 22 points in the 5,000-meter run.
Helen Cross finished as the runner up with a time of 17:18.52 and
Hannah Preisser was not far behind, securing third place in 17:21.07 as both registered season bests and took home All-MIAC accolades.
Phoebe Ward and
Sophie McManus each garnered all-conference honorable mention after they finished fourth and sixth, respectively, after clocking in at 17:23.37 and 17:43.37.
Mary Blanchard and
Aliya Larsen earned All-MIAC status in the mile after placing second and third, respectively. Blanchard crossed the line at 5:06.19, while Larsen clocked in at a personal-best 5:09.04.
Libby Rowland came in seventh place with a time of 5:18.09, and
Nora Daley finished ninth at 5:19.84.
Carleton saw three more scorers in the 800-meter run.
Alice Cutter achieved all-conference standings after taking third place with a time of 2:19.20. Blanchard and
Lara Erickson claimed all-conference honorable mention by placing fourth and sixth, respectively. Blanchard clocked in at 2:20.26, while Erickson posted a collegiate-best time of 2:21.19.
The Knights concluded the day with a third-place showing in the distance medley relay, earning All-MIAC awards for Daley,
Hadley Twichell, Rowland, and Larsen as that quartet had a time of 12:34.90.

Carleton concludes the conference meet on Saturday with field events starting at 11:00 AM and racing on the track beginning at 1:00 p.m.
