NORTHFIELD, Minn. – After the second day of competition at the MIAC Indoor Championships, the Carleton College men's track & field program sits in eighth place with a team score of 24 points.
The Knights scored the majority of their points in the mile run.
Gabe Nichols and
Roy Llewellyn earned All-MIAC status as they finished second and third, respectively, in the 27-runner field. Nichols notched a time of 4:13.92, followed by Llewellyn
, who crossed the line at 4:16.28 and narrowly missing a new PR. Teammate
Indy Lyness placed fifth with a personal-best time of 4:17.69, earning him all-conference honorable mention.
Emerson Lange (11th at 4:25.58) and
Brett Hanley (4:39.00) also competed in the event, with the former setting a new collegiate best by more than five seconds,
The Knights earned All-MIAC recognition in the distance medley relay. The squad of Llewellyn,
Asher Nathan, Lyness, and Nichols took third place with a time of 10:18.51, which ranks them No. 4 all-time at Carleton.
Llewellyn ran the first 1,200 meters in 3:09, followed by a 51.3 split for Nathaniin over his 400 meters. Lyness followed by coveriing the 800-meter leg in 1:57.9, and Nichols anchored by racing the final 1600 meters in 4:19.
Ethan Ash and
Alistair Pattison competed in the 800-meter run, posting times of 1:59.67 and 2:03.85, respectively.
Friday's action began with the conclusion to the two-day heptathlon.
Theo Demetriades had posted new personal bests in the 60-meter dash (7.42), long jump (6.07 meters), and pole vault (3.20 meters) in addition to registering 9.19 meters in the shot put and a time of 9.74 in 60-meter hurdles. His prospects for scoring in the event were dashed when he had no height in the high jump. He ended up not running the final event the 1000-meter run and did not register a final score.
