BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – When the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) handed out its annual awards for swimming and diving, Carleton College's Andy Clark was named the Men's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season. This is Clark's first MIAC Men's Coach of the Year accolade in his 31st season leading the team. He was previously awarded MIAC Women's Coach of the Year honors in 2005 and 2017.
 
The 2023-24 Men's COY Award for Clark comes after he guided the Knight men's program to a second-place showing at the MIAC Championships. That was Carleton's best team finish since re-joining the MIAC in 1983.
 
The Knights turned in a plethora of all-conference performances, with seven individual swims and three relays being named All-MIAC, as well as notching nine All-MIAC honorable mention swims across the four-day meet. Impressively, the Knights achieved this finish without 2023 all-conference diver Hans Anderson, who was injured and unable to compete.
 
Under Clark's coaching, the Knights also saw their longest-standing men's team record fall at the MIAC meet as first-year Jackson Rankin broke a 32-year-old standard for the 200-yard butterfly. He touched the wall during the morning prelims at 1:52.03. That bested the previous standard held by Geoff Isaacman (1:52.56) since 1992. Rankin then broke his own record during the evening finals, earning All-MIAC status after taking second place at 1:51.77.
