MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team wrapped up the four-day MIAC Championships in fourth place out of nine participating schools.
Gustavus Adolphus won its first team title since 2015 after accumulating 649.5 points. St. Catherine (608 points), Macalester (576), and Carleton (530.5) rounded out the top-four teams. St. Olaf (476), Saint Benedict (376), Hamline (162), Concordia (151), and Augsburg (0) were the other squads.
In the 1650-yard freestyle,
Stephanie Baranov came in fifth place with a time of 18:08.98. She garnered all-conference honorable mention
Abby Marks and
Lily Johnson placed 11th and 12th, respectively, with times of 19:10.20 and 19:12.97.
Aleia Johnson added to the scoring with a 16th-place finish of her own, completing the event in 19:24.18.
Grace Hou and
Lily Wong finished in ninth and 10th places in the 200-yard backstroke with times of 2:10.88 and 2:11.15, respectively.
The 100-yard freestyle saw
Zoe Morton earned all-conference honorable mention with her fifth-place result with a time of 53.86.
Eleanor Hebard finished 13th at 55.20.
Aubrey Tran had a great swim during the morning prelims to earn a spot in the A-Final of the 200-yard breaststroke. She ended up eighth with a time of 2:33.61 in the finals.
Emma Yao completed the event in 2:31.22, good for ninth place, while
Bryn Ashland aided in the scoring with her 12th-place finish at 2:33.97.
Caroline Crampton secured all-conference honorable mention with her fourth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, covering that distance in 2:14.89.
Isabelle Riley finished 10th at 2:19.15, while
Nora Wooten and Tran posted back-to-back finishes, coming in 12th and 13th place, respectively, with times of 2:22.15 and 2:23.78.
Divers
Brenna Russell and
Hailey Westrup received All-MIAC recognition after placing second and third, respectively, in the 3-meter diving competition. Russell placed second with a score of 423.65, while Westrup took third at 387.55 points.
The meet concluded with the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Carleton's entry taking fifth place. Morton, Hebard,
Jenna Drummond, and Wong combined on a time of 3:36.93.
Up Next for the Knights
Russell and Westrup will head to the NCAA Diving Regionals in Ohio on March 1-2.
