MINNEAPOLIS – While the Carleton College men's swimming & diving team still its in third place after Day 3 of the MIAC Championships, the Knights closed the gap will enter the final day of racing only three points behind second-place Saint John's University.
Gustavus Adolphus leads the team competition with 635 points, followed by Saint John's (431 points), Carleton (428), St. Olaf (330), Macalester (287), and Hamline (37).
Friday began with the 400-yard individual medley, where the Knights had five swimmers score points.
Sean Smith earned All-MIAC status as he finished in third place with a time of 4:11.96.
Nicholas Chang took home all-conference honorable mention after placing fifth at 4:14.43.
Alex Lee and
Matthew Krogman placed seventh and eighth, respectively, after reaching the wall at 4:15.56 and 4:21.75. Teammate
Will Clausman added a 12th-place result with a time of 4:25.21.
Five Knights scored in the 100-yard butterfly as well.
Jackson Rankin added another All-MIAC performance, coming in third with a time of 50.61. Lee added an eighth-place finish, completing the event with a time of 52.25.
Aiden Johnson,
Colin Eldridge, and
Warren Kozak each raced in the 'B' Final and placed 10th, 12th, and 14th with times of 52.67, 53.84, and 54.14, respectively.
Sam Glaubitz added a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, completing the event in 1:43.17 and giving him another All-MIAC award.
Ian Scott's fifth-place showing in a time of 1:43.64 earned him an all-conference honorable mention.
John Rosseel took 10th place with a time of 1:46.08.
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Josh Wu finished in sixth place with a time of 57.55, good for all-conference honorable mention.
Jeffrey Kong aided to the point total with his 11th-place result, as he finished the event in 59.45, while
Aaron Bronstone placed 13th at 59.81.
Ethan Tun had another great individual race, placing second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.91, nearly two seconds better than his performance in the prelims. This earned him another All-MIAC award.
Teammates Scott and Chang finished in fourth and sixth place, respectively, with times of 52.54 and 53.31 as both secured all-conference honorable mention. Rankin added to the scoring with a 13th-place showing, completing the race in 55.66.
Sebastian Lee took ninth in the 1-meter diving competition. He tallied a score of 320.15 during the prelims.
The evening concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay, where the Knights groupin go fLee, Tun, Glaubitz, and Scott finished fifth at 1:25.83

The MIAC Championships conclude on Saturday, Feb. 17 with the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, and 400-yard freestyle relay.
