MANKATO, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track and field program came in seventh of 10 teams with a final team score of 31 points.
Meet host Minnesota State Mankato is the No. 3 ranked NCAA Division II program in the nation and amassed 325 points. Regionally-ranked D-II programs from Wayne State (Neb.) (114 points), Concordia-St. Paul (110), Sioux Falls (59), and Southwest Minnesota State (47) also finished ahead of Carleton.
Roy Llewellyn picked up the victory in the 1-mile run, finishing with a time of 4:20.93.
In the 600-meter run,
Soren Kaster finished in sixth place with a time of 1:27.30. He was the lone Division III runner among the top eight finishers. He also placed sixth in the pole vault with a personal best of 4.07 meters (13' 4.25").
Alistair Pattison put on a solid performance in the 800-meter race, crossing the finish line in 1:57.04, good for a new PR and fifth place in a 21-person field.
The Knights had two runners in the top five for the 1000-meter run. Llewellyn took third place with a time of 2:37.13, and
Emerson Lange finished fifth with a new PR of 2:39.76.
Additionally, the Knights sent four student-athletes to the St. Olaf Invitational.
Theo Demetriades came in fourth place in the heptathlon with a total of 3,829 points. He clocked times of 7.52 in the 60-meter dash and 9.79 in the 60-meter hurdles, leaped 5.73-meter in the long jump, measured 9.33 meters in the shot put, cleared 1.71 meters in the high jump, soared 3.15 meters in the pole vault, and closed the competition by clocking 3:04.30 in the 1000-meter run.
Teammate
Ian Mortenson started the heptathlon by winning the 60-meter dash in a 17-person field with a time of 7.34. Unfortunately, he then had to withdraw from the remainder of the competition.
Noah Morris and
Liam Sullivan participated in the shot put, ending with distances of 10.35 meters and 10.24 meters, respectively. In the weight throw, Morris finished with a 9.70-meter toss, and Sullivan finished with an 8.71-meter heave.

Carleton will return to Mankato next Saturday, Feb. 3 to take part in the Ted Nelson Classic.
