NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's indoor track & field team won two events at the Ole Opener, the Knights' first full-team competition of the 2024 slate.
Lara Erickson won a tight 800-meter race, posting a winning time of 2:24.55.
Alice Cutter took third at 2:25.06, with a runner from NCAA Division II program Concordia-St. Paul in between.
In the 1000-meter run,
Mary Blanchard secured second place with a time of 3:01.62, while
Aliya Larsen took third in the mile run, crossing the line at 5:17.44.
The Knights dominated the 3000-meter run, earning the top seven places in an 18-runner field.
Helen Cross led the pack, clocking in an impressive 10:00.63, closely followed by
Phoebe Ward at 10:05.08.
Sophie McManus rounded out the top three with a time of 10:09.25, while
Hannah Preisser clocked in at 10:13.91.
Nora Daley started her collegiate indoor career with a time of 10:31.27, good for fifth place, while Larsen securing sixth place at 10:33.88.
Katie Hirsche rounded out this pack by finishing seventh in 10:39.82.
Carleton's top showing in the field events came from
Neenah Bosman, who placed sixth with a distance of 13.29 meters in the weight throw.
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will compete at the Mark Schuck Open hosted by Minnesota State Mankato on Jan. 26-27. The team may also send a small contingent to the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday.
