NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track & field team showcased several strong performances at the Ole Opener, the first full-squad competition of the 2024 seasons.
Ethan Ash notched the Knights' lone event win, prevailing in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:23.18 to narrowly edge teammate
Alistair Pattison (1:23.36) at the line. That duo now ranks ninth and 11th in program history.
Ethan Cline-Cole achieved three personal records on the day, notably securing second place in the high jump with a height of 1.80 meters. He also took third place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.45 meters in addition to his PR in the 60m hurdles.
In the 3000-meter run,
Roy Llewellyn's performance earned him a solid third-place showing with a time of 8:43.82.
Ian Mortensen had a pair of fourth-place results. He notched a time of 9.03 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles and matched teammate
Soren Kaster in the pole vault by clearing 3.95 meters.
Emerson Lange had Carleton's other top-five result as he ran to a fourth-place showing in the mile (4:32.36), highlighting the team's depth in middle-distance events.
Up Next for the Knights
Teh bulk of the roster will compete for Carleton at the Mark Schuck Open hosted by Minnesota State Mankato on Jan. 26-27. The team will also send a small contingent to the St. Olaf Multi & Invitational thos esame days.
