ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Carleton College women's track & field team got the 2024 indoor season started by sending 10 racers to compete in the mile run at the St. Thomas Indoor Invitational. The Knights posted four top-five finishes.
Hannah Preisser led the Carleton runners by placing second with a time of 5:13.30.
Sophie McManus followed closely, securing third place with a time of 5:14.24.
Mary Blanchard finished fourth with a time of 5:14.82, while
Phoebe Ward took 5th place, recording a time of 5:17.49.
That quartet finished ahead of the three competitors from NCAA Division I programs and three more from D-II programs within the 20-runner field.
Libby Rowland and
Nora Daley were not far behind their teammates, finishing seventh and eighth overall with times of 5:21.38 and 5:21.63, respectively.
Katie Hirsche came in 10th with a time of 5:30.96, while
Alice Cutter completed the event in 11th place with a time of 5:37.19.
Further contributing to the team's depth,
Margo Lewis finished 15th with a time of 5:51.58, and
Ella Visconti was 17th with a time of 6:05.81.

Carleton will run in the Ole Opener at nearby St. Olaf on Saturday, Jan. 20.
