LA CROSSE, Wis. – The 2023 outdoor season came to a close for the Carleton College men's track & field team as two team members, Roy Llewellyn (Fy./Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and Gabe Nichols (Fy./Grove City, Penn./Grove City), set new personal-best times while competing at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier.
 
Nichols finished fourth overall in the field of 28 racers, crossing the line at 3:50.53, more than a three-second improvement over his previous best time. Llewellyn improved from 12th to eighth on the final lap and finished at 3:56.28, one second better than his previous PR. They were the only first-years in the event.
