ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Mary Blanchard (Jr./Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) turned in a pair of runner-up results in helping the Carleton College women's track & field team finish second out of 19 teams at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational. The Knights had 11 top-5 results on the day.
 
Blanchard took second in both the 800-meter and 1500-meter races, clocking times of 2:20.41 and 4:47.83, respectively. In each race, she trailed only a runner from the University of Minnesota (NCAA Division I).
 
With a personal-best time of 1:01.25, Lara Erickson (So./Columbia Falls, Mont./Columbia Falls) added a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Sophie McManus (So./McCall, Idaho/McCall-Donnelly) had the Knights' other runner-up result, completing the 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:21.92.
 
Other top-five results for Carleton:
• Hadley Twichell (Fy./Redwood City, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) placed third in the 400-meter dash (1:01.55) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (27.13).
• Erickson, Riley Roberts (Jr./Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South), Celia Silverstein (Fy./Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings), and Sadie Ray Smith (Sr./San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding) combined on a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. They covered the distance in 4:17.26.
• Grace Blanchette (Sr./Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.10. She was also fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 31.38 meters.
• Rainey Tilley (Sr./South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena) placed fifth in the 1500-meter race at a personal-best 4:53.34.
• Emily Litton (Sr./Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) cleared 3.00 meters on her first attempt to finish fifth in the pole vault.
