ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Ian Mortensen (Jr./Seattle, Wash./Shorecrest) and Noah Eckersley-Ray (Sr./Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) finished 1-2 in the javelin throw as the Carleton College men's track & field placed fifth out of 15 teams at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational.
 
A total of 25 individuals took part in the javelin, and Mortensen had the five farthest heaves in the competition, topping out at 52.54 meters. Eckerlsey-Ray's top effort measured 48.07 meters.
 
Gabe Nichols (Fy./Grove City, Penn./Grove City) and Roy Llewellyn (Fy./Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) placed second and third, respectively, in the 5000-meter run as they crossed the line at 15:06.91 and 15:07.61.
 
Henry Bowman (Sr./Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus) ran to a third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He clocked a personal-best time of 9:30.20.
 
The Knights had three other top-5 results:
• Ethan Ash (Jr./Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School) placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.19. Liam Kennedy (Jr./St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central) crossed the line fifth (personal-best 51.24) in the same event.
• Tim Adams (So./Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) cleared 3.80 meters in the pole vault, finishing fifth out of 22 competitors. That height tied his collegiate best for outdoor competition.
