NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track & field team opened and closed the Carleton Relays—the team's first home meet of the outdoor season—with event victories. In between, the Knights placed first in two other events.
Noah Eckersley-Ray (Sr./Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) got the day started with a bang, uncorking a personal-best heave of 53.56 meters on his first attempt in the javelin throw. That measured more than 12.5 feet better than his previous personal record, and he ended up winning the event by a whopping 17.5 feet. He is now ranked No. 2 in the MIAC.
The Knights wrapped up the day's competition at Laird Stadium with a 13-second victory in the 4x400-meter relay.
Liam Kennedy (Jr./St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central),
Josh Meier (So./Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge),
Ethan Ash (Jr./Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School), and
Reese Anderson (Fy./Frontenac, Minn./Lake City) used crisp handoffs en route to posting a season-best time of 3:24.23.
Gabe Nichols (Fy./Grove City, Penn./Grove City),
Roy Llewellyn (Fy./Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North), and
Indy Lyness (Fy./Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) swept gold, silver, and bronze in the 1500-meter run as they crossed the line at 3:59.14, 3:59.95, and 4:01.93, respectively.
The 800-meter crew was even more dominant. Meier, Ash, Nichols, Lyness, and
Jeremy Fong (Sr./Niiza-Shi, Japan/Christian Academy in Japan) earned the top-5 spots in the event, which had a total of 31 racers spread across four heats, each of which Carleton won. Meier prevailed with a time of 1:56.95 followed by his teammates at 1:57.87, 1:58.04, 1:58.91, and 1:59.99, respectively.
Carleton had 11 additional top-5 results:
• Kennedy was fifth in the 100-meter (11.71) and 200-meter dashes (23.60). Both times were new personal bests.
• Anderson competed in six total events on Saturday, several of them for the first time at the collegiate level. He was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.71, finished fourth in the long jump at 5.39 meters, and was fifth in both the high jump (1.45 meters) and javelin (39.68 meters).

Theo Demetriades (Fy./Pasadena, Calif./Polytechnic School) placed second in the long jump, tying his career best of 5.71 meters.

Aravindh Subramanian (Sr./Dayton, N.J./South Brunswick) took second in the high jump at 1.80 meters, with
Ethan Cline-Cole (So./Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Trinity School) placing third and tying his career best at 1.75 meters. The latter also took fifth in the triple jump after measuring 11.52 meters.

Tim Adams (So./Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) finished second in the pole vault with a height of 3.60 meters

Carleton will send a contingent to race at the Rider/Bolstorff 5K on Thursday, April 27. The next full-squad competition will be the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational hosted by Macalester College on Saturday, April 29.
