SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Three members of the Carleton College men's track & field team opened their spring break by competing at a pair of meets in the Golden State.
On Friday,
Reese Anderson (Fy./Frontenac, Minn./Lake City),
Ethan Ash (Jr./Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School), and
Gabe Nichols (Fy./Grove City, Penn./Grove City) raced the 800-meter run at the Redlands Invitational.
Nichols won his heat and finished seventh overall at 1:57.65. Ash and Anderson grabbed the top two spots in their heat. Ash was eighth overall at 1:58.14, while Anderson placed 12
th out of 67 racers with a time of 1:58.60.
Less than 24 hours later, the trio made their way down the coast to race at the Ross & Sharon Irwin Invitational hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University.
Nichols finished fourth out of 44 entrants in the 1500-meter run. He clocked a time of 3:53.81, ranking No. 3 on the NCAA Division III list for the outdoor season. Later in the day he came back to compete in the 5000-meter run and covered that distance in 14:59.87.
Anderson won his heat of the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.84, good for 17th out of 35 runners in the event overall. Ash finished 24th, clocking a time of 52.01.
Anderson also ran in the 200-meter dash, turning in a time of 23.69.
