ST. PAUL, Minn. –
Gabrielle Evans (Sr./Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) and
Sydney Marsh (Sr./Austin, Minn./Austin) tied for fifth place in the pole vault, accounting for two of the team's ten top-10 results at the Hamline Invitational. This was the first full-squad meet of the outdoor season for the Carleton Women's Track & Field squad.
Evans and Marsh both cleared 3.24 meters, tied for the top height in the MIAC so far this season.
Nayeli Williams (Fy./Minneapolis, Minn./Brooklyn Center) had the other top-10 showing during the field events, placing ninth in the long jump despite only measuring one legal jump (4.91 meters). She added a sixth-place result in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.69.
Clara Mayfield (Jr./Manhattan, Kan./Manhattan) also turned in two individual top-10 showings. She finished third in the 1500-meter run with her time of 4:37.36 (second in the MIAC this year), then came back to the track later in the day and placed sixth in the 800-meter run (2:23.84).
Jocelyn Ferguson (Fy./Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South) also competed in her first collegiate 800-meter race and posted a time of 2:24.70, good for 10th place. The Carleton duo is current third and fourth in the MIAC this season for the 800-meter distance.
In an overall field of 45 runners across two heats,
Helen Cross (So./Nederland, Colo./Nederland) and
Sophie McManus (Fy./McCall, Idaho/McCall-Donnelly) both set personal bests as they were the fourth and fifth racers across the finish line during the 5000-meter run. Cross posted a time of 18:14.59 with McManus covering the distance in 18:25.68.
Carleton's entry in the 4x100 relay took third place with a time of 52.20.
