WAVERLY, Iowa –
James Berger (Jr./Los Altos Hills, Calif./Gunn) tied for first as the Carleton College men's golf team finished sixth out of 15 teams at the Wartburg Spring Invite, the Knights' first tournament of the spring portion of the season.
The Knights posted a team score of 296 in Friday's opening round, matching the lowest recorded 18-hole score in team history. Saturday's final round at Prairie Links Golf Course was cancelled due to weather.
Berger carded a 68 (-3) on Friday, eclipsing his previous career low by four strokes. He tied with Luke Evans of Kirkwood atop the leaderboard.
Carleton's other three scorers—
Ryan Choi (Fy./Cockeysville. Md./Dulaney),
Anderson Murphy (Jr./Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades), and
Eldon Spencer (Jr./Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades)—each totaled 76 shots (+5) on the par-71 course.
Bob Zhu (So./Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) was the other player in the Knights' lineup, making his season debut with a 79.
