BLOOMINGTON, Minn – Carleton College junior
Clara Mayfield (Manhattan, Kan.) was named the MIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week of March 22-28.

Mayfield broke the Carleton outdoor 5,000-meter run record as she clocked a time of 16:44.82 at the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival hosted by UCLA. Mayfield finished second out of 12 runners in the fast heat of the 5K, which included six NCAA Division I racers and three more from Division II. When Mayfield crossed the finish line, she had taken more than 19 seconds off her previous personal best in the event and broke the team record of 16:49.17 previously set by Ruth Steinke on 04/15/2016. Mayfield ranks No. 3 in the country this season.
This is Mayfield's fifth MIAC weekly award this academic year and the eighth of her career.
