BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Four members of the Carleton College men's basketball starting lineup were recognized as the MIAC coaches handed out their end-of-season honors. Junior forward
Jeremy Beckler (Lino Lakes, Minn./White Bear Lake) was voted to the All-MIAC First Team, while senior
Alex Battist (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and first-year
Luke Harris (Fy./Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) received All-MIAC Honorable Mention.
Beck Page (Jr./Longmont, Colo./Longmont) was tabbed to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Knights went 16-7 overall and 13-5 in MIAC play, their best season since the 2016-17 campaign.
Beckler was voted to the six-player All-MIAC First Team. He was the top-scoring forward in the conference and finished fourth overall in the MIAC at 16.7 points per game. He was 1 of only 3 players—and the only non-fifth-year senior—to be named to either the All-MIAC first, second, or third team in both 2020 and 2022. He was a third-team all-conference pick following the 2019-20 campaign and the D3hoops.com West Region Rookie of the Year that same season. The MIAC did not hand out awards in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so Beckler becomes the 18th player in team history to earn consecutive all-conference selections.
He started all 23 games this season and reached double figures 20 times, including his second and third career double-doubles. A difficult matchup for defenses, he was a frequent visitor to the charity stripe where he made a MIAC-high 86 free throws. He finished second on the Knights and ranked among MIAC leaders at 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.9 blocks per game.
Not just an interior presence, Beckler stretched defenses with his perimeter shooting. He finished seventh among conference players with 36 total 3-pointers during MIAC games, while connecting in those contests at a 43.9 percent clip to rank sixth in the league. In fact, he was the only MIAC player to average at least 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting better than 35 percent from beyond the arc this season.
Harris was 1 of 5 players to receive All-MIAC Honorable Mention, and he was named to the five-player All-First-Year Team. He is the 21st Knight all-time to earn a spot on the squad recognizing the conference's top rookies and he is the 20th to do so since 2000, continuing a trend of giving young players the opportunity to shine. Over this span, no other MIAC program has had more than 13 players selected to the All-First-Year Team.
Harris averaged 12.3 points per game, second-most among MIAC rookies, and he was third overall in the conference and tops among first-year players at 3.1 assists per game. His 1.53 assists-to-turnover ratio was second in the conference. After coming off the bench in the season opener, he started the final 22 games of the season, reaching double figures in 18 of those contests, including a season-best 20-point effort against St. Scholastica on Dec. 11.
Battist, the lone senior on the Knights' roster, averaged 11.5 points and team-highs of 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks en route to receiving All-MIAC Honorable Mention for the second consecutive time. He started 20 games on the season and achieved double-digit scoring nine times, including a career-best 30-point effort in the win at Trinity (TX) on Nov. 27. He was 1 of only 3 MIAC players to average at least 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game this season.
As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC also announced the 15th annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for men's basketball. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition. Page was Carleton's representative on this list.
Page led the Knights in 3-point shooting, making 38 triples on the season and connecting at a 38.4 percent rate to rank 12th in the MIAC. He scored a career-best 25 points at Concordia-Moorhead on Jan. 23 thanks to a 7-for-8 performance from beyond the arc.
