KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second consecutive year, Carleton College guard
Luke Harris collected All-District/All-Region recognition from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com.
The NABC honored 11 players overall from Region IX, and this time Harris was an All-District Second Team pick. He is 1 of 3 players to be repeat selections on the NABC All-District Team, joining Logan Pearson of UW-Platteville and Joshua Van Gorp of Central (Iowa) College. The All-District awards are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division III.
This year, Harris was a third-team pick for D3hoops.com—the preeminent website covering men's and women's NCAA Division III college basketball—which highlighted 16 total players, five each on its first and second teams with six players tabbed for third-team recognition. Six players were D3hoops.com All-Region selections for both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns: Harris, Pearson, Van Gorp, Jaylin McCants of University of Dubuque, Carter Huschka of UW-Eau Claire, and Kai Te Huki of Grinnell Grinnell.
"I am very pleased to see Luke receive recognition from the NABC Region 9 coaches as well as D3hoops.com," said Carleton head coach
Ryan Kershaw. "Luke's numbers, as well as the impact he had on our program, speak for themselves. Throughout his career he has collected three All-MIAC selections, two MIAC scoring titles, was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Year a season ago, and finished his career as the fourth-highest scorer in school history.
"Along with fellow senior
Spencer Goetz, Luke will graduate as the all-time winningest class in Carleton basketball history. Above all, Luke is about winning and competitive excellence, and it is satisfying to see him receive these well-deserved endorsements."
Harris averaged 19.2 points per game this season — leading MIAC players in scoring for the second consecutive year — and contributed 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 145 steals per contest en route to his third straight All-MIAC First Team selection. Harris and Goetz led the Knights — who entered the campaign with only four players with previous collegiate playing experience, one of which only played 8 games — to an 18-10 overall ledger and a trip to the MIAC Playoff Finals.
Harris was the only player in Region IX to average more than 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.25 steals while shooting at least .400 from 3-point range this season. He was 1 of only 5 players across NCAA D-III to average better than 19.0 points, 4.25 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.25 steals while shooting at least .400 from 3-point range.
He scored at least 20 points in 14 games, including season-high 32 points at No. 10 Saint John's. Some of Harris' best performances came against top competition as he averaged 21.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 steals in six total games against teams that were ranked inside the top-60 programs in the final NCAA Power Index (3 games vs. Saint John's, 2 games vs. Gustavus Adolphus, and 1 game vs. UW-Eau Claire).
Harris concluded his time donning the maize and blue with 1,800 career points, 327 assists, and 133 steals. Those figures rank fourth, fifth, and 12th, respectively, in team history. He also corralled 510 rebounds over his four seasons. Carleton went 75-30 (.714) over his four seasons, including four trips to the MIAC Playoffs, the MIAC regular season and postseason titles in 2023, and a NCAA Championships berth in 2023.
Carleton men's basketball players have now collected a total of 33 All-Region awards, including 24 honors since 2006 (see full chart below). This marks the ninth consecutive season that a Carleton men's basketball player was voted to an All-Region team (the Knights did not play in 2020-21 due to the pandemic). Harris joins Jim Tolf '82, Josh Wilhelm '99, Kevin Grow '18 and Jeremy Beckler '23 as the only players in program history to receive multiple All-District honors from the NABC, while the contingent to collect multiple All-Region awards from D3hoops.com includes only Zach Johnson '09, Grow, Kent Hanson '20, Beckler, and Harris.
