NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track & field team competed at a pair of meets this weekend, the final tune ups before next week's MIAC Indoor Championships.
 
Mark Miller Invite Recap
While the Knights took a small contingent to the Mark Miller Invite hosted by Minnesota State University-Mankato on Friday evening, the team saw some big results as 8 of the 9 Carleton runners at this competition registering lifetime bests.
 
Ethan Ash (So./Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School) placed second in the 1000-meter run with a four-second personal best of 2:31.06. That moved him into the No. 6 slot in program history. He now ranks No. 4 in the MIAC this season.
 
The same event also saw Ben Santos (Sr./Boulder, Colo./Boulder), Elijah Jones (Jr./Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead), Josh Meier (Fy./Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge), and Alistair Pattison (So./St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) finish in the top 10 as each recorded a new PR. Santos was fourth at 2:33.62, while Jones placed sixth at 2:37.38, Meier took eighth at 2:38.96, and Pattision was ninth at 2:39.34.
 
Liam Kennedy (So./St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central) finished third in the 600-meter run (1:27.37) in his first attempt at the event.
 
Ben Perry (Sr./Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis Washburn) was sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.11 to move into No. 5 in the MIAC this season.
 
Bridger Rives (Sr./Skiatook, Okla./Bishop Kelley) turned in Carleton's top time in the 400-meter dash this season at 52.58.

Less than 24 hours after racing at the Mankato meet, Ash was winning the 600-meter run at St. Olaf, clocking 1:23.35, which is No. 7 in program history. Rives was next across the line at 1:25.26, good for No. 8 in the MIAC this season.
 
Meier, who did not run track in high school, won the 800-meter competition  in his first race at that distance. He now sits No. 6 in the MIAC with a  time of 1:59.32. The Knights took 5-of the top-7 places in that race. Pattison was third and ranks 11th in the MIAC with a time of 2:00.23.
 
Owen Schuster (Sr./Batavia, Ill./Batavia) set a new pole vault personal best for the second consecutive week. This time he cleared 4.46 meters (14 feet, 7.5 inches) and ranks No. 4 in the MIAC and No. 2 in team history. Tim Adams (Fy./Honoluu, Hawaii/Punahou School) also registered a new PR in the event at 3.86 meters.
 
Aravindh Subramanian (Jr./Dayton, N.J./South Brunswick) posted a lifetime best when he cleared 1.86 meters in the high jump.
 
The Knights capped the weekend by winning the 4x400-meter relay as Ash, Rives, Meier, and Pattison dropped the team's top time this season five seconds to move into fourth in the conference.
 
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will host the MIAC Championships on Feb. 24-26. The competition begins with the heptathlon on Thursday and Friday, with the majority of the conference meet coming on Friday afternoon and Saturday. Unfortunately, due to the large number of student-athletes competing at this meet and space constraints within the Recreation Center, spectators will not be permitted at this year's conference meet. Carleton will provide live video streaming and live results.
