NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's tennis team improved to 4-0 this fall after securing a 5-4 victory over Cardinal Stritch University on Sunday.
Mariam Nechiporuk (So./Portland, Ore./Lake Oswego),
Lingyu Wei (Sr./Shanghai, China/Shanghai Weiyu High School), and
Sydney Bell (Sr./Lafayette, Calif./Acalanes) each won in both singles and doubles.
Nechiporuk and
Ingrid Smith (So./Edina, Minn./Edina) picked up an 8-4 victory atop the doubles lineup, while Wei and Bell prevailed by the same score at No. 3 doubles. The Wolves (0-2) captured No. 2 doubles match by an 8-4 tally.
Nechiporuk nearly shutout her singles opponent, winning 6-1, 6-0 at the top spot. Wei and Bell also registered straight set victories, the former by a 6-2, 6-3 count the latter by a 6-3, 7-5 score.
Smith and
Piper Brown (So./Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Porter-Gaud) both took their singles matches to a super tiebreaker.

The fall portion of Carleton's schedule will conclude with Nechiporuk and
Amelia Asfaw (So./Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) taking part in the ITA Cup from Oct. 13-16 in Rome, Ga. The won the ITA Regional to earn automatic selection to this national tournament.
