NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's track & field program made its indoor season debut at the Ole Opener, competing against both Luther College and meet host St. Olaf College. The Knights won four events on the evening, including
Ethan Ash (So./Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School) and
Stephen Lavey (Sr./Cedar Grove, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) registering the top times in the MIAC this year for their respective events. This was the first indoor track & field meet for Carleton since March 2020.
Ash began his collegiate indoor career in style by winning the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:35.63.
Lavey led a Carleton 1-2-3 result in the 3000-meter run. He opened up the season with personal best time of 8:37.55 and was followed by
Ben Santos (Sr./Boulder, Colo./Boulder) at 8:46.42 and
Henry Bowman (Jr./Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus).
Oscar Christoph (Sr./Tacoma, Wash./Wilson) got his season started with a victory in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.68.
Ian Mortensen's (So./Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) sixth and final attempt in the long jump proved to be his best as he soared 6.34 meters to win the event.
In addition to the four event victories, the Knights posted several personal bests in the season lid lifter. That include new PRs by five Carleton entries in the mile run:
Adam Nakasaka (Sr./Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Watts,
Josh Meier (Fy./Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge),
Ben Aoki-Sherwood (Jr./Robbinsdale, Minn./Armstrong), and
Jesse Shufro-Zletz (Sr./Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep).

Carleton is scheduled to host the Carleton Triangular next Friday, Jan. 21. Per Carleton's current policy, no spectators will be permitted at that meet.
