SARTELL, Minn. – The No. 24-ranked Carleton College women's golf team concluded the weekend in a tie for second place at the CSB Invite.
No. 17 Bethel University edged the Knights and No. 8 St. Catherine University by a single stroke in the team competition.
Carleton easily led the field with 20 birdies over the two days, but the Knights were unable to match Bethel's relative success on the par 5s, where the Royals were +10 compared to +17 for Carleton.
First-round leader
Athena Kwon (Fy./Summit, NJ/Sandburg) was the runner-up in the 77-player field. She followed up a 77 in her first collegiate round with a 74, including four consecutive birdies on the back nine, to wrap up the weekend with a seven-over-par 151. Her six birdies were tied for most at the tournament.
Bethel's Anna Tollefson carded a tournament-best 71 on Sunday to edge Kwon by a single stroke for medalist honors.
Kristin Miyagi (Sr./Honolulu, Hawaii/'Iolani School) tied for third place (78-77=155) overall and registered her fifth career top-5 finish.
Alyssa Soma (So./Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) tied for 16th and,
Olivia Siebert (Fy./Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) ended up tied for 19th. Soma finished with a 36-hole score of 165 (78-87), while Siebert tallied a 167 (84-83).
Ananya Shah (Sr./Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) totaled 173 strokes (84-89), while
Taylor Kang (So./Pleasanton, Calif./The King's Academy PSP) and
Mia Wang (Fy./Chengdu City, China/Gould Academy) played as individual entrants and posted scores of 170 and 188.

The Knights collected 13 birdies—tops in the 12-team field—and totaled 317 strokes on Saturday, matching the score posted by No. 8 St. Catherine University and six shots ahead of No. 17 Bethel University.
Kwon carded a 77 (+5) in her first collegiate round and holds a one-stroke lead over six players, including two teammates. After a double bogey on No. 5, she played the final 13 holes at three over par.
Meanwhile Miyagi and Soma were able to bounce back after slow starts. The duo was a combined 11-over par on the first three holes but played the last 15 holes at a combined 1-over par and posted matching 78s. Miyagi had two birdies, while Soma tallied four birdies, tying teammate
Ananya Shah (Sr./Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) for most in the field.
Shah and
Olivia Siebert (Fy./Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) both carded an 84, matching the score of
Taylor Kang (So./Pleasanton, Calif./The King's Academy PSP), who played as an individual.
