NORTHFIELD, Minn.— Despite 10 kills from
Grace Perret (Fy./Green Bay, Wis./Preble), the Carleton volleyball team dropped a three-set match (25-16, 25-15, 25-19) against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Friday evening at West Gym.
After falling behind early in both of the opening two sets, Carleton rallied in the third. Back to back kills from
Annelise Sokolow (So./Draper, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic) and
Jancyn Appel (Kansas City, Mo./The Pembroke Hill School) pulled the Knights to within two points at 17-15 late in the set. The Knights (3-10) would get no closer however as River Falls would go on to close out the set 25-19 to win the match.
The Falcons (8-8) hit .375 in the match compared to .140 for Carleton. River Falls held an 11-3 advantage in service aces.
Perret hit .188 for the match, while Appel chipped in with six kills and two blocks. Sokolow tallied five kills, two aces and six digs in the match. Setter Setter
Inger Shelton (Sr./San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) led Carleton with 23 assists, while adding six digs and two kills for the Knights.
The Knights are scheduled to travel to Waverly, Iowa this weekend to participate in the Wartburg Triangular. Carleton plays Coe College (Iowa) at 10 a.m., followed by a 12 p.m. match against host Warburg.
