GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior
Amanda Mosborg (Bloomington, Minn./Edina) finished in 13th in the 5,000-meter run and sophomore
Clara Mayfield (Manhattan, Kan./Manhattan) placed 14th as the duo represented the Carleton College women's track & field program at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
"Amanda and Clara raced great," said Carleton head coach
Donna Ricks. "They kept their composure after a two-hour race delay, once again demonstrating they are some of the best distance runners to grace Carleton's teams."
The 5000-meter race was delayed due to storms in the area, but eventually competition at Irwin Belk Stadium was allowed to resume.
Mosborg clocked a time of 17:20.38, which is the second fastest of her career and nearly 18 seconds faster than she ran two weeks ago at the MIAC Championships. Meanwhile, Mayfield was competing in her second distance event in three days and finished in 17:22.17.
"For Amanda, this was a chance to celebrate her running and all that she brought to the program for her four year," said Ricks. "And for Clara, the 5K today was part of the process in her returning to the track and gaining experience at the national championships."
