The PEAR Department is taking this opportunity to recognize and celebrate the seniors on our varsity athletic teams. We know that they have poured their hearts and souls into their teams during their time at Carleton and we are excited about what the future holds for each of them. Keep checking back in the coming weeks as we take the time to highlight each of these individuals. Click here for our Senior Spotlight archive.

Â
What was your favorite sports moment at Carleton?     Â
My favorite sports moment at Carleton was our win against St. Kate's at the end of last season. We had set a goal of going 5-0 in our last five games and although we knew we had already missed playoffs, it was still incredible to go out and play with nothing else on the line. It was a great way to end one of my favorite seasons of basketball.
Â
Why did you choose Carleton?     Â
When I visited, I fell in love with the community, both academically and athletically. I chose Carleton because of the people, the academics, and because Carleton provided me the opportunity to explore an environment different from where I grew up.
Â
Outside of athletics, what will you miss most about Carleton? Â
I'll definitely miss the people and professors, they're incredible!    Â
Â
What else has your Carleton experience included?        Â
I studied abroad with SEA the summer before my junior year and it was really this experience that inspired me to pursue oceanography. From here, I had the opportunity to do research with a Carleton alum, Yui Takeshita, at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute last summer which was amazing! My friend and I also started a club this past term focused towards students interested in pursuing STEM and research-based careers!
Â
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective student-athletes? Â Â
Take advantage of every opportunity. Carleton is full of resources and people who want to help you succeed. If you open yourself up to trying new things, you'll be amazed at where you end up and the relationships you build along the way.
Â
What is a favorite memory you have of your head coach?
My favorite memory of Tammy was probably our first practice last Fall. She had such an incredible legacy at Carleton and we were all super nervous about not making any mistakes. It was definitely our worst practice all season. It's funny looking back on it now because in all my years of basketball I've never enjoyed practice more than I did last season.

Quote from Head Coach Tammy Metcalf-Filzen:
Anna finishes her career as a sharp-shooter attracting major attention from our opponents. More than that, Anna worked hard and developed her game in so many aspects to benefit our team with her balanced play on both ends of the court. Her commitment to the program was evident every day in her work ethic, leadership and willingness to bring younger players along.Â
