ROME, Ga. – Sophomore
Mary Frances Hose (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) added her name to the list of Carleton College women's tennis players to earn All-America recognition, doing so with her performance at the ITA Cup (formerly known as the Small College Nationals).
The tournament featured the two finalists from each of the eight ITA Regional Championships played at the end of September, forming a bracket consisting of 16 of the top singles players from across NCAA Division III.
Hose defeated Angel Le of Whitman University by a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 margin in the opening round. By winning her first match of the tournament, Hose has already met the criteria to be named a ITA Division III All-American for the 2021-22 season. The All-American teams will be officially announced in June 2022. At that time, Hose will become the 15th All-American in program history (see chart below).
In the second round, Hose lost to top seed Sahana Raman of Middlebury College by a 7-5, 6-2 tally. The Carleton sophomore also dropped her final match of the tournament, losing 6-0, 6-1 to Angie Zhow of Pomona-Pitzer.
