The PEAR Department is taking this opportunity to recognize and celebrate the seniors on our spring sports teams. While we are sad that we were unable to watch them compete this season, we are excited about what the future holds for each of them. Keep checking back in the coming weeks as we take the time to highlight each of these individuals. Click here for our Senior Spotlight archive.

Â
What was your favorite sports moment at Carleton?     Â
Running in the 2019 Cross Country conference race - it was on our home course and I ran every step of the race next to three of my teammates, we were so in-synch and so strong. We won the conference title and one of our teammates broke a course record. I was an incredible day for our team.          Â
Â
Why did you choose Carleton?     Â
Carleton was full of opportunities; I knew that Carleton was a place where I could pursue a wide range of things if I chose to and that possibility was exiting to me.Â
Â
Outside of athletics, what will you miss most about Carleton? Â
I will miss the incredible people I have built relationships with and I will miss the Arb so so much.
Â
What else has your Carleton experience included?        Â
I've studies abroad in the South Pacific for Studio Art and I've done research with a professor.
Â
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective student-athletes? Â Â
There are many options of how to spend your time during college, you can't do them all so find the activities that you enjoy most. For me, college athletics was a great experience and I could not have been luckier than to spend my time at practices, at competitions, and with my coaches and teammates.
Â
What is a favorite memory you have of your head coach?
Every morning in the fall the cross country team wakes up to run as the sun is rising, and each morning Donna is there excited, happy, and ready to help us push ourselves to be our best. Her enthusiasm for us and belief in us even in the early hours of the morning are some of my favorite memories of Donna.
Â
Quote from Coach Donna Ricks:
"Marietta brings her smile, positivity and energy to every practice. Part of an exceptional senior class, she has been instrumental in building this team over the past four years."
