The PEAR Department is taking this opportunity to recognize and celebrate the seniors on our spring sports teams. While we are sad that we were unable to watch them compete this season, we are excited about what the future holds for each of them. Keep checking back in the coming weeks as we take the time to highlight each of these individuals. Click here for our Senior Spotlight archive.

Â
What was your favorite sports moment at Carleton?     Â
Racing at the Drake Relays freshman year as well as road trips with the team.
Â
Why did you choose Carleton?     Â
Carleton had a sense of academic curiosity that I hadn't found at any of the other schools I visited. That, along with the great experiences I had meeting track coaches and professors at Carleton showed the level of care and respect there was between students and faculty, something I found very important.
Â
Outside of athletics, what will you miss most about Carleton? Â
Spring Term including Rotblatt, Spring Concert, and warm days out on Bell Field or the Bald Spot.
Â
What else has your Carleton experience included?        Â
Summer Internships at Solhem Companies with Curt Gunsbury '89 (2018) and Thrivent Financial (2019), an externship at MIAC Analytics (2018), and Comps Project on Alternating Sign Matrix Conjecture.
Â
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective student-athletes? Â Â
Enjoy yourself at Carleton and try out new things both academically and socially.
Â
What is a favorite memory you have of your head coach?
Dave is super up-to-date and even learned how to do the "dab" and showed it to the team this year!

Quote from Coach Dave Ricks:
"The best 200m runner in more than 25 years. Ben was a great long sprinter and we had high hopes for him being a member of a great 4x400m relay team this Spring. He always brought a positive attitude to practice and I'll miss him. Hopefully, I'll still hear from him in the future. I wish that we could have gotten one more California Spring Break trip in before it all ended."
