MINNEAPOLIS — Nina Schwab won her second individual title of the meet as the Carleton College women's swimming & diving team finished third at the MIAC Championships after the Knights registered nine all-conference or all-conference honorable mention performances on Saturday.
 
Gustavus Adolphus totaled 788 points to win its third straight MIAC crown. St. Olaf was next at 631.5 points. In a tight battle for third place, it turned out that every team point was crucial, whether a Knight finished 1st or 16th as Carleton (576.5) edged Macalester (575.5) by a lone point.
 
Chelsea Andersen posted a third-place result in the 1650-yard freestyle to earn All-MIAC status. She touched the wall at 18:04.71. Stephanie Baranov received All-Conference Honorable Mention as she placed fourth with a time of 18:12.00. Lucia Martin del Campo and Ava Shaker added to the Knights' point total as they finished 12th and 14th, respectively with times of 18:56.41 and 19:08.00.
 
Grace Hou won the "B" final of the 200-yard backstroke, reaching the wall at 2:08.32. Lily Wong and Lilly Soillis placed 12th and 13th, respectively, as they clocked times of 2:11.37 (2:10.66 in prelims) and 2:11.84.
 
The Knights jumped ahead of Macalester, 465.5-450.5, and into third place thanks to five point-scorers in the 100-yard freestyle. Carleton outscored the Scots 40-19 in the event. Julia Michalski and Maya Geddes both collected All-MIAC Honorable Mention as the duo finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 53.25 and 53.50. Zoe Morton (10th at 53.78), Ella Grogan (14th at 55.19), and Daya Tucker (16th at 55.52) boosted the Carleton point total.
 
Bryn Ashland trimmed 1.75 seconds off her prelim time and finished at 2:24.78 in the 200-yard breaststroke, good for third place and All-MIAC status. Emma Yao sliced 2.9 seconds off her time from the morning session and received All-Conference Honorable Mention after finishing fourth at 2:24.87.
 
Macalester raced its way back to a 20-point lead over the Knights during the 200-yard butterfly. Each side had three point scorers, but the Scots put all three in the "A" final, while the Knights saw Nora Wooten (11th at 2:20.06), Olivia Stankiewicz-Goldsmith (13th at 2:23.41 / 2:23.01 in prelims), and Aubrey Tran (16th at 2:31.71 / 2:28.31) race in the "B" final.
 
Carleton closed the gap in 3-meter diving as Schwab and Hailey Westrup finished 1-2 once again, ahead of Macalester's lone entrant. Schwab posted a score of 519.85 and added the 3-meter diving title to her 1-meter crown from earlier in the week. Westrup totaled 473.65 points.
 
The Knights entered the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, trailing Macalester be three points. Michalski, Morton, Baranov, and Geddes combined on a time of 3:33.47, good for third place and 32 points, while Macaleter's quartet placed fifth and received 28 points to drop behind Carleton in the standings.
