FARMINGTON, Minn. - Senior center-back Zaraya Jordan anchored the Carleton backline to a pair of wins this week, and earned her second career Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Defensive Player of the Week Award.
The two Knights wins this week kept Carleton atop the MIAC standings as the lone undefeated squad in conference play. With the Jordan leading the way, Carleton's 2-1 victory over cross-town rival St. Olaf featured only seven Ole shots overall, with just two of those attempts being on frame. St. Olaf entered the game 12th in D-III in goals scored. Ole striker Emily Johnson entered the game leading D-III in goals and had scored in eight consecutive games, including three straight multi-goal games. With Jordan leading the effort and often defending Johnson one-on-one, the forward managed only four shots — none of them inside the 18-yard box - and did not score. Carleton then permitted only four shots overall and just one on goal in a shutout victory over Bethel on Oct. 3. Jordan and the Carleton defense have surrendered just two goals all season.
Jordan previously won the award the week of Sept. 8, 2025. Jordan is the third Knight in the last four weeks to be tabbed the women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, with fellow center-back Maya Lacey and Avery Trapp also collecting the honor. Jordan and Carleton women's soccer next play on Wednesday, Oct. 7 on the road at UW-Eau Claire, with kickoff coming at 7:30 p.m.
