Knights stay atop MIAC standings with 1-0 win at Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College women's soccer team continued its winning ways, notching a 1-0 victory at Hamline University on Saturday to remain atop the MIAC standings.

Hadley Twichell's 77th-minute goal accounted for all the scoring in a game that saw Carleton (8-1-1, 6-0-0 MIAC) hold a 19-5 advantage in shots.

The woodwork proved unkind to the Knights, who saw shots clang off the crossbar in the 40th, 57th, and 82nd minutes, with the latter resulting in a rebound attempt by Lola Feurer that required a sprawling stop by the Hamline goalkeeper.

Twichell's third goal of the season came via a free kick after a foul near the top of the box. She snuck her shot inside the far post.

Hamline (4-7-2, 0-5-1 MIAC) took the first three shots of the contest but was unable to manage another attempt until the 83rd minute.

Avery Trapp registered five saves in recording her fifth clean sheet of the season and the 34th of her career.

With the win, the Knights improved to 40-1-9 (.890) in MIAC regular-season play over the last five seasons.
