NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's cross country team finished 30th of 35 teams at the Running of the Cows Pre-Nationals Meet. The field included 16 nationally-ranked squads.
Sophomore
Martin Moshfeghi was the first Knight to finish in the Navy Division Championship Division. He clocked a time of 25:50.3 and placed 118th. Junior
Travis Brown (26:00.7) placed 138th in the 337-runner field.
Sophomore
Gus Schafer covered the eight-kilometer distance in 26:21.7 to claim 187th place. First-year
Nik Abrahamson was next to finish for Carleton, posting a time of 26:29.9. Rookie
Malcolm Richardson completed the scoring for the Knights as he was 243rd at 26:52.2.
Senior
Simon Chambers-Trubatch (259th, 27:03.6), first-year
Tai Brown (304th, 28:02.2), sophomore
Dashiell Coyier (312th, 28:13.4), and
Torte Torstenson (317th, 28:24.2) also raced in the Navy Division Championship.
Forest Andrews-Wehling (28:14.8) and
Max Whalen (28:35.1) raced in the Men's Open Division later in the afternoon.
No. 5-ranked Wartburg College won the team competition with a score of 110, while No. 3 Johns Hopkins (123 points), No. 1 UW-La Crosse (144), No. 9 UW-Stevens Point (182), and No. 8 RPI (189) rounded out the top five.
No. 13 Washington (Mo.) was sixth at 195 points with No. 21 MIT next at 208 points followed by No. 20 Washington & Lee (217), No. 6 Pomona-Pitzer (223), and No. 10 Tufts (252).
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton heads to Oregon to compete at the George Oja Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17. That will be the final tune-up before the MIAC Championships two weeks later.
