BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carleton College senior
Carter Sichol was tabbed the MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive time and the ninth time in her collegiate career.
She shot an even-par 144 as she tied for 11th place on the leaderboard at the NCAA Preview on Sept. 13-14. After carding a 1-under-par 71 in the first round, Sichol continued her consistent play with a 1-over 73 in round two.
Contested at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, Calif., the 15-team field featured 13 of the top-25 teams in the most recent Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) poll, including the nation's top-six ranked programs and 10 of the top 13 squads.
Sichol's performance helped Carleton — which received votes in the WGCA poll — finish in seventh place, ahead of teams that entered the weekend ranked No. 4, No. 6, No. 11, No. 13, No. 18, No. 19, and No. 24 in the country.
Sichol and her teammates are set to play this weekend at the St. Kate's Invite.
