Bryanna Schaffer and sophomore
Megan Smith made the team for the first time, while juniors
Grace Colburn, Esme Song, and
Adriana Wiggins earned accolades for a second straight year.
This award honors student-athletes for work on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, compete in 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the contests (or pitch at least 17 times or 25.0 innings), and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Schaffer, a mathematics major, made her third All-MIAC team this season. She led the Knights in average (.356), on-base percentage (.406), slugging (.585), doubles (15), home runs (4), RBI (22), and runs (23). She played in 38 of 40 games at shortstop.
Schaffer set Carleton career records for games played (149), hits (186), doubles (42) and RBI (102) while also finishing among the program's all-time top-10 in career runs scored (100, third); slugging percentage (.550, fourth); batting average (.389, sixth); home runs (7, sixth); on-base percentage (.424, seventh); and triples (7, tied for ninth).
Smith, a chemistry major, was awarded All-MIAC honorable mention after hitting .352 with a .415 on-base percentage in conference play. She tied for the team high with 23 runs scored this season, stole a team-best 11 bases, and knocked six doubles while starting all 40 contests in center field.
Colburn is majoring in Statistics and hit .286 with a .340 OBP, driving in 20 of her teammates. The junior tied for the fewest errors among MIAC players with 170 or more defensive chances with just one.
Song is a biology major who spent time at second base and right field. She worked a .270 batting average, getting on base at a .331 clip. She scored 18 runs and was a perfect 9-for-9 in base thefts. The junior started all 40 games, and led the MIAC with 12 sacrifice bunts.
Another statistics major, Wiggins posted a .371 on-base percentage while hitting .278. The outfielder led the team with 15 walks, striking out just nine times. Wiggins started all 40 games, and was the only Knights field player with 10+ games played and a flawless fielding percentage.
