MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team finished fourth out of eight teams at the MIAC Championships.
Nina Schwab won the 1-meter diving competition, and did so while twice setting school and MIAC Championships records.
The Knights saw seven all-conference or all-conference honorable mention performances on Saturday.
Gustavus Adolphus College won its second consecutive and 12th overall conference title after amassing 699 points. Macalester College was a close second at 679 points, while and St. Olaf College (576.5), Carleton (497.5), and St. Catherine University (396) rounded out the top five in the eight-team competition.
During the preliminary round, Schwab scored 464.10 points. That bettered her own team record as well as establishing a new MIAC Championships meet record. Not satisfied with that, Schwab pushed both marks out even farther after scoring 475.40 points during the finals.
Hailey Westrup, who won the 3-meter competition on Thursday, was the 1-meter runner up after totaling 436.90 points.
Chelsea Andersen and
Stephanie Baranov both set new personal bests as they earned All-MIAC honorable mention after finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1,650-yard freestyle.
Andersen reached the wall at 17:53.48, while Baranov touched at 18:00.32.
Lily Johnson finished 11th overall with a time of 18:57.41, eclipsing her previous PR by more than 15 seconds.
Grace Hou received all-conference honorable mention thanks to her sixth-place result in the 200-yard backstroke. Hou set a PR during the morning prelims, then bested that with a time of 2:08.56 during the finals.
Lilly Soillis turned in a personal-best performance of 2:13.10 during the preliminaries, then finished 12th in the finals at 2:14.29.
Zoe Morton and
Ella Grogan finished 14th and 16th, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle. Morton covered the distance in 54.52 during the finals, while Grogan set a PR of 55.30 in the morning session before clocking 55.58 at night.
Bryn Ashland earn All-MIAC honorable mention by taking fourth place in the 200-yard breaststroke. During the morning prelims, she posted a time of 2:27.08, setting a new PR by nearly seven seconds. Ashland touched at 2:27.40 in the finals.
Jenna Drummond and
Emma Yao swam in the consolation final. The former finished 13th with a personal-best time of 2:33.29, while the latter took 14th at 2:34.61.
Five Knights qualified for the finals of the 200-yard butterfly.
Caroline Crampton posted a personal-best time of 2:12.84 to finish fifth and collect All-MIAC honorable mention.
Isabelle Riley placed eighth overall after establishing a new PR of 2:16.38 in the prelims before finishing at 2:17.03 during the finals.
Nora Wootten,
Lola Taraday, and
Aubrey Tran raced in the consolation final. Wootten swam a personal-best 2:17.38 and placed 11th, while Taraday and Tran finished 14th and 16th, respectively at 2:25.18 and 2:28.12.
The four-day meet concluded with the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Knights' entry of Morton, Grogan, Baranov, and Ashland finished in sixth place at 3:40.81.
