NORTHFIELD, Minn. —The Carleton College women's swimming & diving team won 10 events on Saturday, defeating Macalester College 166.5–129.5 in a dual meet.
"What an incredible finish to our fall competitions," said Carleton associate head coach
Brooke Plotz. "The teams' energy and enthusiasm were fantastic, and the focus of the past few weeks is clearly paying off. I'm excited to carry this momentum into winter break."
The Knights opened the day with bang as
Grace Hou,
Emma Yao,
Julia Michalski, and
Zoe Morton broke the Thorpe Pool record with a 200-yard medley relay winning time of 1:49.50. Michalski added individual wins in the 200 freestyle (1:58.43) and 200 individual medley (2:13.51) to lead Carleton's effort. Hou added a win in the 100 backstroke (1:01.21), while Morton was first to the wall during the 100 freestyle (55.64).
Daya Tucker led a 1-2-3 Carleton finish in the 50 freestyle (25.34), and
Bryn Ashland won the 200 breaststroke (2:35.03).
The Knights capped the meet with another relay win, as Morton, Tucker,
Stephanie Baranov, and
Maya Geddes combined to take the 400 freestyle relay in 3:44.97.
Carleton swept the diving events as sophomore
Nina Schwab won both the 1-meter (283.35) and 3-meter (301.95) boards, continuing her impressive season as she has already achieved the benchmarks required to qualify for both heights at the NCAA Diving Regional.
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton hosts the 20th annual Ted Mullin "Hour of Power" Swim Relay for Sarcoma Research. The nationwide event to raise awareness will be held at Thorpe Pool (and pools and natatoriums across the country) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
