BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carleton College's Marcus Merkelbach was named the MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week, his fifth career conference weekly award.
 
Merkelbach went 6-for-6 on PAT tries and drilled a 21-yard field goal in the Knights' 45-28 road win at Gustavus on Oct. 4. He added an average of 51.3 yards per kickoff with a trio of touchbacks. The victory was Carleton's first at Gustavus since 1989.
 
The Knights travel to College of St. Scholastica for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 11.
