CRESCENT, Mo. – The No. 19-ranked Carleton College women's golf team wrapped up play at the WashU Spring Invitational fifth of 13 teams.
Cynthia Lu was the Knights' low scorer in both rounds, finishing the weekend with a score of 157 (+13).
Carleton played the first competition of the spring season without its top player,
Carter Sichol, who entered April ranked No. 21 in the nation.
No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan won the two-day tournament at Crescent Farms Golf Club with a team score of 604 (+28). The "A" and "B" teams for No. 11 Washington University in St. Louis placed second and third at 610 (+34) and 635 (+59), while Macalester College was fourth at 637. Carleton shook off a tough first day to take fifth at 639 (+63, 326-313).
Carleton sat sixth after Saturday's round, trailing DePauw University by one stroke. The Knights bested the Tigers by 10 strokes during the final round.
Lu followed an opening-round 80 with a 77 on Sunday. Her 21 pars over the 36-hole tourney was sixth-highest in the field.
Olivia Siebert was two strokes behind her teammate, tying for 15th at 159 (+15, 81-78). She played the par-5s at a combined 1-under par. She was 1-over on the par-3s, tied for sixth-best among all competitors.
Mindy Zhai tied for 17th at 16-over par (82-78=160), while
Sarah Zheng (84-80) and
Natalie Tatar (83-81) tied for 25th at 164.

Carleton is scheduled to take part in the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling on April 13-14 in Normal, Ill. That event is hosted by Illinois Wesleyan.
