HASTINGS, Minn. – The Carleton women's golf team is alone in second following the opening round of the Spring Finale, hosted at Hastings Golf Club.  The Knights posted a collective score of 20-over-par (312) in Saturday's first round, placing them just two shots behind leader St. Catherine heading into Sunday's final round.

Sophomore Anna Lee led the way for the Maize and Blue on Saturday with a three-over-par round of 76.  Her round was highlighted by birdies on the par-five first and the par-four 13th holes.  She sits just one stroke back from leader Raquel Ahrens of St. Catherine.

Seniors Carter Sichol and Cynthia Lu are tied for sixth following matching scores of 78 on the day.  Sichol turned in a 40 (+3) on the front nine before coming home in 38 (+2).  Lu opened her round on a high note with a birdie on the opening hole.  She went out in 38 (+1) before coming back in with a four-over 40 on the back nine.

Senior Sarah Zheng followed with a seven-over-par 80 to place her in a tie for 12th.  Zheng carded a pair of birdies and was even through eight on her way to a 39-41 finish.  Fellow senior Natalie Tatar rounded out the starting lineup with a 14-over 87 to see her tied for 27th.

Junior Mindy Zhai and first-year Kate Yi are both competing as individuals this weekend.  Zhai posted a nine-over-par 82 to settle into a tie for 18th.  Meanwhile Yi carded a 90 (+17) for 32nd on the individual leaderboard.

The Knights will close out the regular season in tomorrow's final round at the Jewel Golf Club in Lake City.  They are set to tee off beginning at 12:45pm.
