NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The No. 20-ranked Carleton College women's golf team is one stroke off the lead after the opening round of the St. Olat-Carleton Invite.
Carter Sichol will carry a one-stroke lead into the final 18 holes, while
Cynthia Lu is in fourth place.
The Knights posted a team score of 316, tying No. 13 St. Catherine University for second place. The Wildcats' "B" team holds a one-stroke lead in the 12-team tournament.
Sichol turned in a steady round at Willingers Golf Club, with 14 pars, a birdie, and three bogeys for a 2-over par 74. Lue started the day with back-to-back birdies and collected another on No. 18 as she finished the day at 77 (+5).
Natalie Tatar, who is playing this weekend as an individual entrant, and
Mindy Zhai are tied for 15th place after posting scores of 82 (+10).
Sarah Zheng is tied for 19th place at 11-over par (83) after and up and down final six holes, while senior
Alyssa Soma, also playing as an individual, is a stroke behind.
Olivia Siebert turned in a score of 85 (+13), one shot better than senior
Taylor Kang, the third Knight playing as an individual entrant.
