NORMAL, Ill. – The No. 19-ranked Carleton College women's golf team finished third out of 21 teams at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.
Carter Sichol,
Cynthia Lu, and
Mindy Zhai each posted top-25 results in the 114-player field.
No. 11 Illinois Wesleyan won the 36-hole event with a team score of 581. No. 9 St. Catherine University took second at 598, while Carleton (298-321=619) held off No. 43 Rose-Hulman (622) for third place.
After slow start on Sunday, Sichol, who is ranked No. 14 in the country, played the final 15 holes at 2-over par as she carded a 78. That gave her a two-day total of 149 (+5), tied for seventh place.
Lu birdied the first hole of Sunday's final round and ultimately finished in a tie for 16th at 154 (+10, 75-79).
Like Sichol, Zhai got off to a slow start scoring wise but recovered to play the final 12 holes at 3-over par including a birdie on hole No. 7. She tied for 19th overall at 155 (+11, 74-81).
Olivia Siebert had the Knights' other birdie on Sunday and posted a 36-hole score of 161 (+17, 78-83).
Sarah Zheng concluded the weekend with a score of 169 (+25, 83-86).
Taylor Kang played as an individual entrant and was one stroke behind Zheng (80-90=170).

Carleton is slated to take part in the St. Olaf-Carleton Invite to be played April 27-28 at Willingers Golf Course in Northfield, Minn.
