MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – The No.18-ranked Carleton College women's golf team finished 11th of 24 teams at the Golfweek October Classic.
 
"The tournament was an incredible experience," said Carleton head coach Sloan Wallgren. "We played some great golf and had the opportunity to play with the top teams in the country. We are very fortunate to be invited to this top-quality event each year."
 
This year's October Classic featured an elite field that included 15 top-25 teams and five other squads receiving votes in the most recent WGCA coaches' national poll.
 
No. 7 Washington University-St. Louis captured the team title with a team score of 868 (+4). Top-ranked Carnegie Mellon University was the runner up at 870 (+6). No. 2 Emory University (+13, 877) took third. Carleton (+54, 294-313-311=918) played alongside those three squads each of the last two days and ended the 54-hole event only one shot behind No. 20 Denison University for 10th place.
 
No. 6 Williams College (887), No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer (891) rounded out the top-5 finishers. No. 10 Illinois Wesleyan University (905), No. 14 Washington & Lee University (909), No. 8 St. Catherine University (911), and No. 23 Hamilton College (911) were also among the top-10 teams on the leaderboard.
 
Individually, Carter Sichol (+5, 72-74-75=221) led the Knights with a final-round 75 thanks to a strong start that included back-to-back birdies on holes No. 2 and No. 3. She concluded the tournament in 11th place within the field of 124 players.
 
Sarah Zheng (+14, 75-79-76=230) had a pair of birdies on the back nine, played the final 10 holes at 1-over par, and finished with a final-round 76. She ended up in a tie for 48th place overall.
 
Cynthia Lu (+16, 71-81-80=232) also had two birdies on Tuesday and tied for 60th overall after shooting 80 in the final round.
 
Anna Lee (+23, 76-83-80=239) had the second-best back nine for the Knights on Tuesday, needing 38 strokes over the final nine holes to finish at 80 as well. She tied for 81st overall.
 
Natalie Tatar (+25, 81-79-81=241) played her best golf of the tournament over a stretch of the front nine on Tuesday, thanks to birdies on No. 2 and No. 5. She ended up in a tie for 89th place.
 
This tournament concluded the fall portion of the Knights' schedule.
