Women's Swimming and Diving Steve Antrim '24

Knights earn 203-97 dual meet victory over Saint Benedict

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Carleton College women's swimming and diving team won 14 of 16 events in their dual win against the College of Saint Benedict. The final score of the meet was 203-97.
 
Zoe Morton captured the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 25.34 seconds.
 
In the 100-yard freestyle, Morton was again the top finisher, this time reaching the wall in 55.35 seconds. Lily Wong came in second with a time of 57.40.
 
Moving on to the 200-yard freestyle, Bryn Ashland took first place with a time of 2:05.41.
 
In distance events, Caroline Crampton placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:39.07, and Stephanie Baranov followed suit in second place at 5:48.05.
 
Following with the 1650-yard freestyle. Baranov was first to the wall with a time of 19:18.15. Abby Marks, Lily Johnson, and Aleia Johnson continued the Knights' domination in the event as they covered the distance in 19:51.40, 20:05.31, and 20:12.50, respectively, to finish second, third, and fourth.
 
Grace Hou excelled in the backstroke events, winning the 100-yard distance in 1:01.03 and the 200-yard race in 2:17.12. Wong came in second for the Knights in the 100-yard backstroke, completing the race in 1:02.74.
 
In breaststroke, Emma Yao claimed first place in the 100-yard event with a time of 1:08.90.
 
Carleton won both butterfly events. Hou was again at the forefront, winning the 100-yard race in 1:02.99 as the Knights earned the top-5 places with Crampton (1:04.03), Nora Wooten (1:05.29), Isabelle Riley (1:06.05), and Lola Taraday (1:06.10) grabbing the next four finishes.
 
In the 200-yard butterfly, Crampton earned her second victory on the day, finishing in first place with a time of 2:21.69.
 
Drummond won the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:58.56. Coming in second was Aubrey Tran, finishing the event in 5:02.79. Baranov took third place at 5:05.32.
 
Carleton swept the top two spots on both diving boards. Brenna Russell won the 1-meter competition with a score of 231.80, and Hailey Westrup took second at 227.95. The duo swapped placements on the 3-meter board with Westrup winning the event with a final score of 227.45 and Russell in second at 209.80.
 
Carleton's other victory came in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Hou, Yao, Morton, and Eleanor Hebard posted a time of 1:51.57.
 
Next Up for the Knights
Carleton travels across town to compete against St. Olaf on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Senior Day meet will begin at 2:00 p.m.
